Job Description

Assistant Household Underwriter

Salary: £18500 - £20000 D.O.E

Location: Reigate

This Financial Company based in Reigate are looking for someone to provide an efficient day to day support service for the operational staff.

Main Duties…

  • Day to day support to the operational staff across different sites with referral to the Household Underwriter where required
  • Assist in maintaining the Underwriting guide including providing information on the most common telephone referrals
  • Carry out referral overrides and weekly renewal reviews
  • Process enquiries and complete investigations into claims history by liaising with previous insurers
  • When necessary investigate competitor’s activity including cover and pricing
  • Assist in the production of training bulletins to communicate underwriting changes to operational areas
  • Assist in the investigation of underwriting complaints
  • Assist in the preparation of technical training material and assist in the training delivery
  • Contribute towards changes and revisions to the Home Policy Booklet
  • Make daily case-by-case decisions on underwriting issues to support the Customer Services, Sales and Claims teams up to authority level 2. The authority levels range from 1 (highest level) to 4

Skills & Experience

  • A MINIMUM of 2 years technical Household Underwriting experience in a head office or broker environment
  • Currently studying or with the intension to study towards your certificate of Insurance Practice (CIP)
  • Working knowledge of policy terms and conditions and home technical aspects and insurance processing systems
  • Knowledge of Financial Ombudsman Services (FOS) and impact on wordings
  • Knowledge of assessing flood and other risk areas
  • IT Literate: Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook
  • Good interpersonal skills
